For the first time ever, we’re unlocking Global Startup Battle! incorporate.com is proud to sponsor the Open Track: a brand new way for startups from all around the world to compete in GSB, no matter where they’re from or how they started!  

Who’s the Open Track for? This Track is made specially for startups from outside GSB Startup Weekend events. These teams will compete against each other, outside of the other GSB teams and Tracks. Click here to Enter your Pitch Video!

If you’re a startup team actively working and match the requirements below, this is for you – doesn’t matter if you came from a Startup Weekend last year or started on your own somewhere else. Just submit your pitch video for a chance to win prizes and resources to keep building!

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Equal to or less than 250k raised (seed, friends & family, bootstrapped)
  • Equal to or less than 6 full-time employees
  • Must be actively working
  • Must be further than idea stage (some level of traction needed and/or functional prototype)

Important Dates: 

  • Nov 13 – Submissions open
  • Nov 24 – Submissions close (11:59pm PST)
  • Nov 27 – Voting begins
  • Dec 4 – Voting ends
  • Dec 4-9 – Judging
  • Dec 9-10 – Scoring/Admin
  • Dec 11 – Winner Announcement

Judging Criteria

Experience (how does the product look & feel):

  • Is your product easy and intuitive for the user to navigate?
  • Is your product engaging?
  • How does your product feel?

Execution (what was built):

  • How effective is your a “Minimal Viable Product” for the weekend (be it software, hardware, etc.)? 
  • Were you able to incorporate customer feedback into the solution?
  • How much is built?

Validation (is this business feasible, do you have customers):

  • What is your key value proposition?
  • Who will be your users, who will be your customers (are they different)?
  • How many users have you engaged with?
  • How did you validate your problem & solution with customers, and what did you learn from them?
  • How do you plan on making this a successful business? (have you thought about competition, how to scale, acquiring customers, revenue model etc.)

John “Jack” Bienko

John “Jack” Bienko is the Director for Entrepreneurship Education at the U.S. Small Business Administration Headquarters (SBA). SBA facilities billions of dollars in financing and contracts each year while overseeing a broad entrepreneurial support system and assisting communities recover from disasters. Mr. Bienko’s team develops national educational opportunities for entrepreneurs through direct programming, contracts, grants and innovative partnerships. These services include SCORE’s network of 11,000 business mentors, digital solutions like the award-winning SBA Learning Center, the acclaimed SBA Emerging Leaders executive series, the Agency’s wide reaching Encore Entrepreneurship campaign and cutting-edge public/private partnerships with global brands. He has contributed to White House special initiatives for three Presidential administrations and previously served as SBA’s Deputy Associate Administrator for Strategic Alliances where he developed many of the agency’s highest profile partnerships including the Agency’s 50th Anniversary. Mr. Bienko has been recognized for his determined advocacy of economic opportunity from neighborhood block clubs to foreign embassies. He is active in civic and community organizations, including those that promote startups, public service, and charitable interests. Mr. Bienko entered Federal service as a Presidential Management Fellow after receiving an MS in Architecture & Planning from the University of Buffalo.
